About Microwave Monolithics Incorporated

Microwave Monolithics Incorporated (MMInc.) was founded in 1982 to supply innovative custom microwave components and subsystems based on Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs) to the Government and OEM community, and to perform the research and development necessary to remain at the forefront of this rapidly advancing technology. From its inception MMInc. has operated an in-house GaAs MMIC “foundry” to develop the underlying technology and to supply the “chips” needed to support MMInc.’s research, development, and production activities. This total internal control of all aspects of MMIC design, fabrication, integration, and scheduling are essential to attain the superior component and subsystem performance offered by MMInc. The MicroPLB™ COSPAS/SARSAT Personal Locator Beacon is a prime example of the application of MMInc.’s advanced technology to real world requirements.

MMInc. has extensive experience in the design and implementation of a wide range of components and subsystems, particularly for those applications which are staved for prime power such as small satellites, portable (battery powered) equipment, remote, inaccessible equipment, and related applications. In support of these applications, MMInc. has developed extremely high efficiency transmitters ranging from continuous to sporadic transmission rates, as well as micro-power receiver electronics which are essential for the majority of applications where the receiver must be “ON” virtually continuously.

The company currently occupies 24,000 sq. ft. in its phase II production facility in Simi Valley, CA. This facility includes two clean rooms and the assorted design, and characterization laboratories. One of the clean rooms houses the photoresist related activities and the second clean room houses the thin film deposition and wafer preparation operations. The characterization laboratory is equipped to carry out extensive materials, DC, and RF measurements as required.

This Phase II facility also includes the MicroPLB production area and a screen room which provides full RF test and evaluation capabilities without interference to operational satellites and systems.

MMInc. is currently planning the construction of a 10,000 sq. ft production area at the same location, which will be used to produce an advanced satellite transceiver for military applications. This new production area will include a second screen room, and will also contain a SCIF.

MMInc.'s facilities meet environmental laws and regulations of federal, California, and local governments for, but not limited to, the following groupings: airborne emissions, waterborne effluents, external radiation levels, outdoor noise, solid and bulk waste disposal practices, and handling and storage of toxic and hazardous materials.
